North Dakota

North Dakota is a perfect retreat if you like solitude and open spaces. This state has some sort of arctic charm to it. The winters are very cold and the people are very warm. It's name derives from the Sioux word name "dakota" which quite literally means friend or ally.

North Dakota truly has a lot to offer: civilized and friendly locals, a feel of the great outdoors, the convenience of big city facilities without the overcrowding and most important of all a safe place to visit with your kids. As a matter of fact North Dakota has the lowest criminality rate in United States, this alone should suggest the peace and relaxation that sort of embrace this place like an aura.

If you intend to visit North Dakota you are most likely attracted by the wildlife which naturally thrives in the state's very extensive reservations. This is not your average tourist location and you might finally get that feel that you are finally alone. The population is scarce and mainly residing in the important cities, but even these are quiet and the people tend to respect your privacy.

What makes North Dakota as a suitable vacation spot or why not a place to live in is the very friendly environment that will finally put a smile on your children's face. If you are part of a young family this state is the ideal choice for living as it will finally provide your kids that safe, friendly and fun environment that will help bring a magic childhood. As a warning though if you move to North Dakota you can expect an outlawed burst of happiness from your children when the schools close down during winter. This happens almost every year with such a certainty that you can plan your vacations based on it.

The traffic problems range from very low to none and the boost of fresh air will definitely be a welcomed change especially if you come from a large city. The cold, harsh air takes some time to get adjusted to, but once you get over it you won't accept anything else.

Altogether North Dakota is not a state that I recommend living in, it is a state that I would live in and this enough I think to put this small treasure of human friendliness and spectacular landscapes on your travelling map. If you do intend to travel there Always remember to watch the road conditions especially in winter, otherwise it's all green light.
